xboxcontrollerSince the current generation of consoles first became available, the two most popular choices have been the Xbox 360 and the Nintendo Wii. The Xbox 360 came out first so people had a lot more time to become familiar with it and while the Nintendo Wii came out shortly after, true gamers pretty much shoved it aside due to its lack of hardcore games. A few years have passed and this remains true to this day.

The Nintendo Wii - better for the casual gamer

First let’s take a look at the Wii. Sure it has a handful of great titles such as Super Mario Galaxy and you can play a lot of older titles by buying them from the shop channel but for a true gamer, the Wii is just isn’t up to par. It claims to be HD compatible but only supports a resolution of 480p. The motion controls are kind of fun for a while but this console is definitely more for the casual gamer. The Wii doesn’t have a good way to keep track of friends you want to play with. Instead you have to write down and input a giant code for each friend and it changes for each game.

Xbox 360 - the best competitive gaming system!

The Xbox 360 might have gotten off to a rough start because a number of the first consoles had a malfunction but today that’s all been resolved. The Xbox 360 supports a much higher resolution of 720p which offers you a much crisper picture with less pixelation. The main aspects of the 360 that appeals so much to competitive gamers is the selection of games and the power of the console itself. The 360 has a ton of competitive games such as Halo 3, various Madden and sports games, and much much more. The 360 uses it’s online service, Xbox Live, to enable you to play with people all over the world and keeps track of your stats and achievements.

If you are a competitive gamer, there just isn’t a better console than the Xbox 360. With Xbox Live keeping track of you and a very easy way to keep track of friends you like to play with. It’s superior to the Wii in almost every aspect.
