We all no how annoying it is to buy a game for $50 only to beat it the same day. Before any of these online game rental services existed, I would blow through literally thousands of dollars each year buying new games for my Xbox and Xbox 360. Nothing is worse knowing you just spent $50 only to realize the game is pretty much worthless in a couple months. If you are trying to rent games online, I recommend GameFly.

Luckily there are some things you can do:

  • When I buy games and beat them and know that it has no replay value I take them to GameStop for trade in right away. I always take the store credit because they give you like 30% extra money back. Then just buy another game with the trade in money you got. Sometimes you can buy and beat 3 games for the same price of one game. The only difference is you end up with a different, cheaper game after you are done cycling through the original games value. But it doesn’t matter because the first game you bought will be worthless in a month or two anyway.
  • gameflyMy new thing is to simply rent games from GameFly online. This method is so much cheaper and affordable than buying new games every month. They allow you to rent 2 games out at a time and you can rent another as soon as you return one of the two games you have out already. Yes you don’t get to keep any games, but that feeling is a lot better than realizing your $2000 investment into games this year is only worth $100 at the end of the year. If you want to signup for GameFly, you can signup here - $8.95/m

I know that it is hard to defeat the urge to want to buy and own a new game…it’s pretty addictive and they design the process to be like this. If you can get out of the buying game mode and switch to the renting games made, you will save a boat load of money!
